The radiotelephony licence exams are made up of two separate parts; a written exam and an oral exam.
The written exam is a fairly straight forward, 20 question, multi-choice exam with questions on how to say things like heights, frequencies and headings, the different radio services that you can be provided with as well as information about when you need to make certain radio calls.
The oral exam is conducted using a computer with a mock flight displayed on the screen and follows the format of a real life flight, you simply then have to make all the relevant radio calls such as when you are booking out, entering a runway, taking off etc throughout the flight.
The oral exam takes between 1.5 and 2hrs.
